David Lucker

David was born in 1984 in Hannover, Germany. Compelled to integrate the natural and social sciences for a comprehensive understanding of human behavior, David completed his Master's degree in Human Evolutionary Studies at the University of Cambridge in 2010, supported by a Gates Cambridge Full Scholarship. With applied, multivariate statistics as the primary scientific tool, this program combined Evolutionary Psychology, Genetics, Genomics, Primate Behavior and Anthropology to understand today's human behavior through the lens of the last 10 million years of hominid evolution.

Continuing his search for data-driven, cross-disciplinary explanations of human behavior, David joined Ramboll Management Consulting in 2011 as a Quantitative Consultant. Here he applied statistics to large datasets and survey results, quantifying the impact of multi-million Euro government programs on education and labour market outcomes. During this time, David also began to teach himself how to code, automating various processes for the company.

Aspiring to transition into Data Science, David first built a robust foundation in Data Engineering and Analytics by joining AUTO1 Group – Europe’s leading digital automotive platform – in 2014 as a Business Intelligence Engineer. As the second hire in the business intelligence team, he contributed to developing the central ETL pipelines and the main data warehouse, which supported critical reports guiding multi-million euro marketing decisions.

After a sabbatical and further positions in Business Intelligence and Data Engineering, David started working at GoTo Group, Indonesia's largest Technology Company, in 2018 where he held both Senior Data Engineer and Senior Data Scientist roles. Responsibilities included developing and orchestrating complex ETL pipelines and the main data warehouse for GoTo's Thailand operations, facilitating the deployment of existing machine learning models for match-making and food recommendation, strengthening GoTo's fraud detection capabilities in Thailand to combat sustained and organized fraud activities and designing and deploying a large unsupervised machine learning system, combining anomaly detection with multi-dimensional clustering, to discover new fraud patterns at scale.

David became Co-Founder and CTO at Lawdify in 2023, a venture-backed legal AI startup. Together with his Co-Founder, he secured a six-figure USD investment from Iterative, a leading accelerator and Venture Capital firm in Southeast Asia. As CTO, he was responsible for the complete technology stack and vision, overseeing everything from infrastructure and machine learning models to application development, security and deployment.
